Is this a recall?

No. This is not a recall. This is a limited California Emission Warranty extension.

How long is the warranty extension?

Nissan is extending the California Vehicle Emissions Control Warranty for the In-Tank Fuel Pump on various model year Nissan vehicles sold as new in California or Section 177 States to 7 years or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged.

What is the reason for this warranty extension?

Nissan is enhancing the limited California emission warranty coverage for the in-tank fuel pump in certain vehicles as a customer satisfaction measure. The vehicle’s warranty booklet did not clearly indicate that the fuel pump module was covered under the terms of the California long-term emissions system defect warranty.

What is the possible effect of the condition?

No dealer visit is required for this warranty enhancement – you do not need to visit your Nissan dealer or take any additional action unless the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is illuminated in your vehicle. The MIL may activate for various reasons, including a potential issue with the in-tank fuel pump. If the MIL is illuminated, your Nissan dealer can perform a diagnostic evaluation to determine whether the in-tank fuel pump is affected.

What will the warranty extension cover?

The limited California emission warranty coverage for the in-tank fuel pump has been enhanced to 7 years or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, corresponding with California long-term emission warranty duration. The details of this coverage are described in your Warranty Information Booklet. This coverage of the in-tank fuel pump is in addition to the powertrain warranty coverage. All other warranty terms, limitations and conditions remain unchanged.

How long will the corrective action take?

The duration of the diagnostic evaluation and any necessary repairs may vary depending on the specific issue identified. Your Nissan dealer will provide an estimated repair time based on the specific diagnosis for your vehicle.

Will I have to take my vehicle back to the selling dealer to have the service performed?

No, any authorized Nissan dealer can perform this service.

How can owners seek reimbursement for repairs previously conducted?

If you previously paid to diagnose and repair an In-Tank Fuel Pump for a vehicle affected by this warranty extension within the warranty extension term of 7 years or 70,000 miles (whichever occurs first), you may be eligible for reimbursement of this expense, even if your vehicle is now beyond the limits of the warranty extension. After the Owner Letters are mailed in September 2025, please go to www.nissanassist.com for complete information and instructions including the Reimbursement Claim Form.
