Nissan is committed to providing the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction. With that in mind, Nissan is contacting you regarding a warranty policy enhancement for the evaporative emission vapor vent tube from the fuel tank to the evaporative emission canister.
In the rare circumstance that a clog were to develop in this evaporative emission vapor vent tube, your vehicle has software that may not be able to accurately pinpoint the issue. Therefore, emission warranty coverage for this evaporative emission vapor vent tube has been enhanced to 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first, if the tube is found to be clogged. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged. Please note that a hard-to-fill condition is a symptom that may indicate a clog in this evaporative emission vapor vent tube. If you experience this symptom, your Nissan technician will be able to accurately diagnose the issue and make any necessary repairs.
If you have previously paid to have your evaporative emission vapor vent tube replaced prior to 15 years or 150,000 miles (whichever occurs first) you may be eligible for reimbursement of the related expense. Please note the reimbursement criteria is very specific and only applicable to the evaporative emission vapor vent tube.
If you experienced any repair related to the EVAP canister, check valve, or another part of the emissions system as diagnosed by an illuminated check engine light, it is not related to this warranty enhancement. If the repair is related to the Air Conditioning system with concerns in cooling the vehicle, it is not related to this enhancement.

Nissan has discovered that on many 2003-2017MY Nissan models, in the very rare circumstance that a clog were to develop in the evaporative emission vapor vent tube (located between the fuel tank and vapor canister), the vehicles have software that may not be able to accurately pinpoint the issue.
What will be the corrective action?
Nissan will enhance the emission warranty coverage on this vapor vent tube to 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
How long will the corrective action take?
There is no need to bring your vehicle into your dealer. Please use the peel-off label from the letter you received and place the label on the cover of the Warranty Information Booklet which came with your vehicle.
When will vehicle owners be notified?
All owners of record will be notified in phased mailing schedule via U.S. mail starting in the 1st quarter of 2017.
Are parts readily available?
No parts are required for this warranty enhancement.
Is my vehicle safe to drive?
Will a rental vehicle be provided while the retailer is servicing the vehicle?
No service is required for this warranty policy enhancement.
I have lost confidence in the vehicle. Will Nissan replace or repurchase the vehicle?

Is there any charge for the repair?
No repair is required.
Will I have to take my vehicle back to the selling retailer to have the service performed?
No repair is required. If an issue such as hard-to-fill with fuel does exist, you may go to any Nissan dealer for assessment.
What model year vehicles are involved?
Most MY04-MY16 vehicles are affected. Some late MY03 and early MY17 vehicles are also affected.
How many vehicles are impacted?
The estimated US population affected is ~11.2M.
